Future of Making Discovery Tool
The Future of Making Discovery Tool is an online self-assessment aimed at businesses in the design and manufacturing industry. The purpose of the tool is to generate leads for Autodesk sales teams and help them better understand the current performance of businesses within the industry. This insight gives the sales teams an opportunity to tailor their communications and overall sales approach on a more 1-to-1 level, which helps improve the chances of conversion. The tool is used globally and is currently localised into 10 languages.

The brief

Torpedo were briefed in by Autodesk to build a lead generation tool that produced high quality leads for the Design and Manufacturing sales teams. The purpose of the tool was defined as one which should be able to evaluate how ready businesses are for ‘The Future of Making’ by identifying areas of high and low performance based on 5 key criteria. The tool needed to produce an output that was valuable to both the lead and the Autodesk sales teams.

What we did

After a briefing call with Autodesk in which we defined the purpose of the tool, the target audience, and the desired outcome, we began to explore what the tool should be. We decided the tool would live online as a self-assessment questionnaire. This allowed it to be easily shared, updated, and linked to from Autodesk web pages which would increase exposure and submissions.

The questions, which were developed by Autodesk, are designed to make the user think about the current state of their business and answer honestly in regard to their overall strategy in certain areas that are critical to competitive advantage.

Upon successful completion of the questionnaire, a personalised report is produced to give users something that is insightful, easily accessible and can be referred back to at any time to help inform business developments. Within the report businesses can identify and evaluate their performance in 5 critical areas to competitive advantage as well as explore an abundance of informative resources.

The value of the tool

The discovery tool provides valuable insights for the Autodesk sales teams in the way of understanding the current performance of potential customers. This enables the sales team to tailor their communications and sales approach on a personalised, 1-to-1 level to boost the likelihood of converting the leads into customers.

 

Both the tool and report can be personalised for use by Autodesk Partners as well as be easily localised into any language.

 

There is also a central content management system (CMS) which allows the questions, answer choices, and reports to be quickly and easily updated as required to suit business needs and industry trends.
