Autodesk asked us to develop a website that would make it easier for Autodesk’s Construction team to manage their construction workflow guides. The process of managing and updating these guides for using Autodesk’s Construction Cloud software was time-consuming, offline (using InDesign) and centralized with one designer. This made it difficult to manage all the guides and ensure that they were kept up to date for users. There was no clearly defined process for distributing these guides to sales people or customers, and no way of accessing them online.
We worked with the client to create an online platform to solve the challenges of managing and updating the workflow guides. We uploaded all the content for the workflow guides into a new CMS we developed. The new CMS and online platform have transformed the process of managing, updating and distributing the construction workflow guides for the internal teams. The content is broken down into “chapters” and “guides”, with the chapters making up the main guides. When previously editing them offline, it meant the team had to regularly perform the same updates multiple times due to the same chapters appearing in multiple different guides. The new CMS was structured so that chapters only had to be added once and then could appear in as many guides as was relevant, meaning that changes only need to be implemented in one place, and then get automatically rolled out to all the guides they feature in.
Members of the internal team and the public can now view up to date content online, with easy navigation of detailed and technical content, and also generate PDFs for download or sharable links at the click of a button. The new responsive website is engaging and intuitive – so sales team members and customers alike can find the information they need quickly and easily. Both internal teams and customers can now access the guides from one central location. The website was designed to work with all browsers and be responsive to different devices and window sizes, with a clear navigation that makes it easy to search for and find the content.
