As the Autodesk Relentless Focus Awards were approaching, we were tasked with finding a new and exciting way to make the awards presentation as engaging as possible. Since the awards needed to be presented digitally, due to office closures, they wanted a space where awards, award winners and their records could be displayed after the final presentations were made. So, the space needed to be somewhere that Autodesk team members could return to and re-live the experience.
At first, we discussed how to bring the digital space to life, so we explored the benefits and drawbacks of landing pages, microsites, and 3D environments. Eventually, we settled on a 3D 360 environment built on Sharepoint to facilitate seamless project delivery. We created a ‘presentation hall’—complete with a stage, miniature awards, and large screens that played looped videos of award winners and nominations. Each attendee could interact with these screens and open up presentations to learn more about the awards and award winners. The room was complete with 3D models produced by Autodesk, including robotic arms and the speed racer. The ceiling was generatively designed, and we added silhouettes of onlookers to “populate” the space to make it truly come alive.
We delivered an immersive and interactive 3D environment, making the process of watching and exploring the awards more entertaining and interactive. The event’s resulting interest, engagement, and overall success showed the benefits of creating an interactive 3D space instead of a static landing page.
