PDMC Ident

Our client Autodesk has produced a series of webinars to promote the Product Design and Manufacturing Collection (PDMC). The Product Design & Manufacturing Collection gives people the power to create the most ambitious ideas, collaborate more efficiently, automate the busywork, and explore more design options than ever before. Autodesk requested our support to design and create an animation using the logo of the Collection, so they could use this animation as part of the webinar recordings, as an intro at the beginning of the webinar videos.

The Background

Torpedo created a storyboard for a logo ident that would showcase the different processes and products in the collection. The goal of this animation was to well-communicate the different functions in the collection and how they “come together”.

The different solutions from the Collection would be represented by the different processes: sketching, 3D modelling, fusion interface, design, simulation effect (colour gradient for stress analysis), and manufacturing milling effect (metal shavings spin off).

Our 3D artist worked on this model using Autodesk Maya.

Autodesk Maya is an industry-leading software solution for creating animation and special effects, with an enviable user base of leading gaming companies and movie studios.

Results

The video received great feedback from the client and associated stakeholders.
