Develop an information centre dedicated to the Autodesk Vault product timeline and roadmap for existing and prospective users to convince/reassure them of Autodesk’s continued investment in developing Vault. The timeline page needed to display the product updates that have been implemented over the last few years while the roadmap page needs to display current and future product developments and beta features.
Upon receiving the initial content for the two pages from Autodesk, we began by prioritising the content in order of the timeline and the value of the information. Our UX team then developed a wireframe for the two pages, which included the content, to enable us to start visualising the structure of the two pages. With these 2 pages attempting to convey a relatively large amount of information, it was important to organise everything in a way that enabled users to comfortably digest the content.
Once the wireframe had been approved, our UI team took the lead in developing the visual design. While for this project we had the freedom of creating bespoke layouts and designs, we also wanted to ensure the pages were easily recognisable as an Autodesk asset. This was achieved by applying the relevant industry colour pallet, the Artifakt font, and a range of Autodesk produced imagery and videos. Additionally, we aimed to create a design that could be adopted by other product teams for creating similar resources.
The outcome of our work with Autodesk was an online resource that would prove valuable in demonstrating the company’s historical and future investment in Vault. As well as providing information, the resource encourages users to engage with the product feedback community and have impact of the future development of Vault to ensure it is designed for their needs.
